Movable Type 4.0 is Available!

Six Apart announced the commercial release of Movable Type 4, just over two months since it was launched as a beta.

Movable Type 4 claims to be the world's most powerful and easy to use blog publishing platform. The final release of the all-new platform Movable Type 4.0 promises to be the biggest release of MT ever, with a complete redesign of both the front end information architecture and the back end scaling infrastructure.

MT4 is now the main product on the Movable Type homepage, replacing 3.x. Billed as "the largest release in the product's history", MT4 has new community management features and a completely re-designed admin platform.

Movable Type Open Source, or MTOS, is the open source project that will consist of a GPL-licensed version of Movable Type 4.0. Once that is released, Movable Type will be at least as attractive as Wordpress as a publishing platform for bloggers.

It features more powerful blog publishing abilities, new support for standalone pages, warning messages if your templates contain errors, smarter archiving, most popular plugins folded into the MT4 core, identity technologies like OpenID are built right in, support for an unlimited number of blogs, and a vibrant community.
